This violin represents a unique mid-century collaboration between renowned French luthier Paul Hilaire and Chicago-based entrepreneur Thomas L. Fawick. Mr Fawick owned one of the most famous “Wilhelmj” Stradivari violins ever made, named after acclaimed German violinist August Wilhelmj. Crafted in 1951 using materials curated by Fawick, the instrument was finished and setup in the American Roth shops. Approximately 380 such instruments were produced. Fawick gifted his violins to the legends like Itzhak Perlmanand Jascha Heifetz. Notably, Heifetz reportedly utilized his Fawick as a dedicated practice tool when mastering new repertoire.
